What Does a Full-Service Photographer Actually Do? | Morgantown, WV Family Photographer

It's not cheesin' at you from behind a desk, that's for sure! But actually...you might see that face sorry not sorry. Anyways! If you've never worked with a full-service photographer before, you might be wondering…
What exactly does “full-service” mean?
Isn't a photographer just someone who shows up, takes your pictures, and sends you a gallery? Well… technically, yes. But I think photography can be so much more than that.
When you book a full-service photographer, you're not just hiring someone to take pictures. You're hiring someone to help you create an experience, preserve your memories, and turn your favorite photographs into something you'll actually enjoy for years to come.
The Design Consult
One of my favorite parts of being a photographer is the planning. I'm a planner by nature. Before your session, there are so many little details to think about: What should everyone wear? Where should we go? What time will have the best light? What if your toddler doesn't want to cooperate? Should we bring the dog? What photographs do you want hanging in your home? A full-service experience means you don't have to figure all of that out alone. We can talk through your vision, your family, your home, and what you want these photographs to feel like. Your session shouldn't feel like another thing you have to plan. It should feel like something you get to enjoy.

The Session
This is the part everyone usually thinks of when they think “photographer.” But even here, my job is about more than pressing a button. I'm watching for the little moments, like the way your daughter reaches for your hand, the way your son laughs when Dad does something ridiculous, the way siblings interact when they forget the camera is there, and the way your family naturally fits together. Of course, we'll get those beautiful photographs where everyone is looking at the camera, but I'm also looking for the photographs that make you say, “Oh my gosh. That's SO us.” Those are the ones I love.
The Reveal Session
After your session, you have so many choices! I'll help you narrow down your favorites, and then I will master retouch them for you so they're PERFECT. You can download your images, share them with grandparents, post them on social media...but what next? Do we forget about them in a digital file somewhere? Nope! This is where I come in! Instead of leaving you with a gallery and saying, “Good luck figuring out what to do with these!” I want to help you turn your photographs into artwork and heirlooms. Maybe that's a large, framed portrait for your living room, a collection of matted prints, an album filled with all the little moments from your session...or maybe it's something completely different! There isn't one right way to preserve your memories. There is only the way that feels right for you and your family.
Your time is valuable.
I know my clients are busy. Between work, school, sports, activities, appointments, dinner, laundry, and approximately 47 other things happening every week, the last thing you need is another complicated project. That's one of the reasons I love offering a full-service experience. I want to take something off your plate—not add to it. I'll help you plan. I'll help you prepare. I'll photograph your family. I'll help you choose your favorites. And I'll help you decide how you'd like to enjoy those photographs in your home.

Your photographs matter, but the experience matters too.
I want you to feel cared for from the first conversation all the way to the moment you're hanging that finished portrait on your wall. You may not remember every detail of your photography session when you look back on it, but you'll remember how you felt. And you'll have those photographs to bring you right back. That's what full-service photography means to me. It's not just about taking beautiful pictures. It's about making the entire process easier, more meaningful, and more enjoyable—and creating tangible memories you'll be able to keep long after your session is over.
